諸惡業莫作,諸善業奉行,自淨其意行,是名諸佛教。(28.1)

dadataḥ puṇyaṃ pravardhate vairaṃ na kriyate ca samyamāt |

kuśalī prajahāti pāpakaṃ rāgadoṣamohakṣayāt tu nirvṛtiḥ ||

惠施獲福報,不藏恚怒懷,以善滅其惡,欲怒癡無餘。(2)

sārdhaṃ carann ekakaḥ sadā miśro hy anyajanena vedakaḥ |

解知念待味,思惟休息義,無熱無飢想,當服於法味。(28.5)

已經品嘗了獨居味與寂靜味,樂於品嘗法味,遠離怖畏與惡。(15.9)205

anavasrutacittasya tv anunnahanacetasaḥ |

puṇyapāpaprahīṇasya nāsti durgatito bhayam ||

人不損其心,亦不毀其意,以善永滅惡,不憂隨惡道。(28.6)

心無貪欲染汙與猶豫、超越「罪與福」的理念、保持警醒的人,這樣的人沒有怖畏恐懼。(3.7)39

niṣeddhāraṃ pravaktāraṃ yajjāned vadyadarśinam |

nigṛhyavādinaṃ dhīraṃ tādṛśaṃ satataṃ bhajet |

tādṛśaṃ bhajamānasya śreyo bhavati na pāpakam ||

人欲鍊其神,要當數修琢,智者易彫飾,乃名世之雄,能親近彼者,安隱無憂惱。(28. 7)

如能遇到能指責你過失、指出你的過錯如顯示珍寶的智者,能與這樣的智者為友是福,不是禍。(6.1)76

dhunāti pāpakān dharmān drumapattraṃ yathānilaḥ ||

永息無過者,柔和不卒暴,吹棄諸惡法,如風落其葉。(8)

yo hy apraduṣṭasya narasya duṣyate śuddhasya nityaṃ vigatāṅgaṇasya |

tam eva bālaṃ pratiyāti pāpaṃ kṣiptaṃ rajaḥ prativātaṃ yathaiva ||

無故畏彼人,謗毀清淨者,尋惡獲其力,煙雲風所吹。(28.9)

愚人攻擊清白、可信、清淨的人,反而自己遭殃,就像逆風揚灰塵。(9.10)125

yad yat karoti puruṣas tat tat paśyati hātmanaḥ |

kalyāṇakārī kalyāṇaṃ pāpakārī ca pāpakam ||

人之為善惡,各各自知之,修善得善果,為惡隨惡趣。(10)

ātmanā hi kṛte pāpe tv ātmanā kliśyate sadā |

ātmanā tv akṛte pāpe hy ātmanaiva viśudhyate ||

惡實由自己所作,染污亦是自己所為,不作惡實由自己所決定,清淨也是自己所為,清淨或染污由自己所作,無人可以清淨他人。(12.9)165

aśuddhabuddhiṃ pratyātmaṃ nānyo hy anyaṃ viśodhayet |

abhimathnāti taṃ pāpaṃ vajram aśmamaṇiṃ yathā ||

達己淨不淨,何慮他人淨?愚者不自鍊,如鐵鑽鈍鋼。 (28.11)

惡是我所作,我所進行,起源自我,惡摧毀愚者,就像鑽石摧毀其他堅硬的寶石一樣。(12.5)161

cakṣuṣmān viṣamānī iva vidyamāne parākramet |

paṇḍito jīvaloke ’smin pāpāni parivarjayet ||

若眼見非邪,黠人求方便,智者善壽世,亦不為眾惡。(12)

vaṇig vā sabhayaṃ mārgam alpaśāstro mahādhano |

viṣaṃ jīvitakāmo vā pāpāni parivarjayet ||

商人在路懼,伴少而貨多,經過險難處,然有折軸憂。(28.13)

如同財寶多而伴侶少的商隊會避免危險的路徑,如同意欲求生的人避免毒藥,所以應避免罪惡。(9.8)123

pāṇau cāsya vraṇo na syād dhārayet pāṇinā viṣam |

nāvraṇe krāmati viṣaṃ nāsti pāpam akurvataḥ ||

有身無瘡疣,不為毒所害,毒無奈瘡何?無惡無所造。(28.14)

如果手上無傷口,可以以手抓毒(而不受傷害),毒不侵無傷口的人,不作惡的人不會有惡。(9.9)124

sukarāṇi hy asādhūni svātmano hy ahitāni ca |

yad vai hitaṃ ca pathyaṃ ca tad vai paramaduṣkaram ||

多有行眾惡,必為身作累,施善布恩德,此事甚為難。 (28.15)

危害自己的惡行很容易作,利益自己的善行反而較難作。(12.7)163

sukaraṃ sādhunā sādhu sādhu pāpena duṣkaram |

pāpaṃ pāpena sukaraṃ pāpaṃ āryeṇa duṣkaram ||

善哉修善者,傷哉為甚惡,惡惡自為易,惡人為善難。(16)

madhuvad manyate bālo yāvat pāpaṃ na pacyate |

yadā tu pacyate pāpam atha duḥkhaṃ nigacchati ||

愚者自謂正,猶惡不成熟,惡已成熟滿,諸苦亦復熟。(28.17)

當惡業尚未成熟時,愚者認為所作如蜜一般甜,惡業尚未成熟後,愚者必將受苦。(5.10)69

pāpo ’pi paśyate bhadraṃ yāvat pāpaṃ na pacyate |

yadā tu pacyate pāpam atha pāpāni paśyati ||

賢者見於惡,不為惡所熟,如惡以不熟,惡者觀其惡。(28.18)

惡業尚未成熟時,惡人或見到是善,當惡業成熟時,他才見到惡報。(9.4)119

bhadro ’pi paśyate pāpaṃ yāvad bhadraṃ na pacyate |

yadā tu pacyate bhadram atha bhadrāṇi paśyati ||

賢者觀其惡,乃至賢不熟,設以賢熟者,賢賢自相觀。(19)

善業尚未成熟時,善人或見到是惡,當善業成熟時,他才見到善報。(9.5)120

kuryāc cet puruṣaḥ pāpaṃ nainaṃ kuryāt punaḥ punaḥ |

na tatra chandaṃ kurvīta duḥkhaṃ pāpasya saṃcayaḥ ||

人雖為惡行,亦不數數行,於彼意不樂,知惡之為苦。(20)

如有人已作惡行,希望他勿一犯再犯,不應作惡,積惡招致痛苦。(9.2)117

kuryāt tu puruṣaḥ puṇyaṃ kuryāc cainaṃ punaḥ punaḥ |

tatra chandaṃ ca kurvīta sukhaṃ puṇyasya saṃcayaḥ ||

人能作其福,亦當數數造,於彼意願樂,善愛其福報。(28.21)

如有人已作善行,他應一再行善,歡喜行善,因積善而得安樂。(9.3)118

abhitvareta kalyāṇe pāpāc cittaṃ nivārayet |

dhandhaṃ hi kurvataḥ puṇyaṃ pāpeṣu ramate manaḥ ||

先當制善心,攝持惡根本,由是興福業,心由樂於惡。(28.22)

應速作善行,防止心向惡,未速行善的人,他的心喜樂於惡。(9.1)116

alpakaṃ pi kṛtaṃ pāpaṃ duḥkhāya parataḥ sadā |

mahate bhavaty anarthāya viṣaṃ koṣṭhagataṃ yathā ||

為惡雖復少,後世受苦深,當獲無邊報,如毒在心腹。(23)

alpakaṃ pi kṛtaṃ puṇyaṃ paraloke sukhāvaham |

arthāya mahate nityaṃ sasyānām iva saṃcayaḥ ||

為福雖微少,後受大福德,當獲大果報,如種獲真實。(24)

adaṇḍeṣu hi daṇḍena yo ’praduṣṭeṣu duṣyate |

daśānām anyatamaṃ sthānaṃ kṣipram eva nigacchati ||

無過而強輕,無恚而強侵,當於十品處,便當趣於彼。 (28.25)

以刀杖侵犯無過錯者或良善者,這樣的人會快速遭遇(下列)十種狀況之一。(10.9)137

jñātīnāṃ vā vinābhāvaṃ bhogānāṃ vā parikṣayam |

rājato hy upasargaṃ vāpy abhyākhyānaṃ ca dāruṇam ||

宗族別離散,財貨費耗盡,為賊所劫掠,所願不從意。 (28.27)

被國王刁難而被控訴重罪,喪失親戚,財富折損。(10.11)139

vedanāṃ kaṭukāṃ vāpi śarīrasya ca bhedanam|

ābādhaṃ vāpi paruṣaṃ cittakṣepam athāpi vā ||

痛癢語麤獷,此形必壞敗,眾病所逼切,心亂而不定。(28.26)

遭遇惡言,損失財物,身體受損傷,感染重病,心志恍惚。(10.10)138

atha vāsyāpy agārāṇi hy agnir dahati sarvathā |

bhedāt kāyasya cāprājño daśamāṃ durgatiṃ vrajet ||

或復無數變,為火所焚燒,身壞無智慧,亦趣於十品。 (28.28)

房舍遭火災焚燒,死入地獄。(10.12)(140)

pāpe tu kṛte hi nāśvasec cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi nāśvaset |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi nāśvased asti tasya vipāka iti nāśvaset ||

作惡勿言無,人作言無罪,屏隈言無罪,斯皆有證驗。(29)

puṇye tu kṛte tv ihāśvasec cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi cāśvaset |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi cāśvased asti tasya vipāka iti cāśvaset ||

32

pāpe tu kṛte hi śocate cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi śocate |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi śocatāsti tasya vipāka iti śocate ||

作惡言有憂,久作亦言憂,屏隈亦言憂,憂彼報亦憂。(30)

33

puṇye tu kṛte hi nandate cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi nandate |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi nandatāsti tasya vipāka iti nandate ||

34

iha śocati pretya śocati pāpakarmā hy ubhayatra śocati |

sa hi śocati sa praśocati dṛṣṭvā karma hi kliṣṭaṃ ātmanaḥ ||

此憂彼亦憂,惡行二俱憂,彼憂彼受報,見行乃審知。(31)

作惡的人現世憂悲,死後憂悲,兩處憂悲,見到自己的惡行,他憂悲,他苦惱。(1.15)

35

iha nandati pretya nandati kṛta puṇyo hy ubhayatra nandati |

sa hi nandati sa pramodate dṛṣṭvā karma viśuddhaṃ ātmanaḥ ||

此喜彼亦喜,福行二俱喜,彼喜彼受報,見行自清淨。(32)

行善的人現世歡喜,死後歡喜,兩處歡喜,見到自己清淨的行為,他歡喜,他快樂。(1.16)

pāpe tu kṛte hi śocate cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi śocate |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi śocate bhūyaḥ śocati durgatiṃ gataḥ ||

37

puṇye tu kṛte hi nandate cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi nandate |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi nandate bhūyo nandati sadgatiṃ gataḥ ||

38

puṇye tu kṛte hi modate cirakṛte dūrakṛte ’pi modate |

rahasi ca kṛte ’pi modate bhūyo modati sadgatiṃ gataḥ ||

39

kṛte ca pāpe ’py akṛte ca puṇye dharmaṃ samādāya vihāya dharmam |

bibheti mṛtyor iha pāpakarmā bhinnaplavo madhya ivodakasya ||

40

kṛtaṃ ca puṇyaṃ hy akṛtaṃ ca pāpaṃ satāṃ ca dharmaś caritaḥ purāṇaḥ |

bibheti mṛtyor na kadaṃcid eva yathaiva nāvā dṛḍhayā tarantaḥ ||

作福不作惡,皆由宿行法,終不畏死徑,如船截流渡。(34)
