比丘即使所得(四事供養)甚少,他也不忽視自己的義利(解脫),他不怠惰,過正命清淨(的日子),連天人都讚譽他。(25.7)366

不是只因為他向人托缽乞食就成為沙門,遵行卑劣教法,這樣的人不成為比丘。(19.11)266

能知罪福者,身淨修梵行,明遠純清潔,是名為長老。 (11.12)

如果一個人超越福德與罪罰,清淨地修習梵行,他具知見地生活於此世間,所以稱作沙門。(19.12)267

無禪則無智,無智則無禪,道從禪智生,得近圓寂路。(32.17)

無智慧則不得禪定,無禪定則不得智慧,同時具足禪定與智慧,他確實逐漸接近涅槃。(25.13)372

kalyāṇaśīlaṃ āhus taṃ hrīmantaṃ bhikṣum uttamam ||

諸有修善法,七覺意為本,此名為妙法,故名定苾芻。(32.20)

tathā samādhi lābhena viviktaśayanena vā ||

不以持戒力,及以多聞義,正使得定意,不著於文飾,苾芻有所倚,盡於無漏行。(32.22)

不僅僅是依戒律與儀軌,也不因多聞,不是因證得禪定,也非因離群獨居。(19.16)271

spṛśet tu sambodhisukham akāpuruṣasevitam ||

比丘!如果你未盡諸漏,不要如此思惟而得滿足:「我接觸到凡人所無的解脫樂」。(19.17)272

苾芻有所倚,盡於無漏行當觀正覺樂,勿近於凡夫,觀此現世事,分別於五蘊。(32.23)

tāpajāto hy ayaṃ lokaḥ skandhā nātmeti manyate |

manyate yena yenāhaṃ tat tad bhavati cānyathā ||

觀此現世事,分別於五蘊,修行勿作惡,必強自制心,捨家而得解,意猶復染著。(32.24)

行力若緩慢,作善與不善,梵行不清淨,不獲於大果。〈11 沙門品〉(2)

習行懈緩者,勞意勿除之,非淨則梵行,焉致大財寶?〈32 苾芻品〉(25)

慳悋若斷盡,是名真苾芻,信樂於正覺,得盡苦輪迴。(47)

yasyānuśayā na santi kecin mūlaṃ cākuśalasya yasya naṣṭam |

sa tu bhikṣur idaṃ jahāty apāraṃ hy urago jīrṇam iva tvacaṃ purāṇam ||

81

sa bhikṣur yasya śīlāni sa dhyāyī yatra śunyatā |

sa tu bhikṣur idaṃ jahāty apāraṃ hy urago jīrṇam iva tvacaṃ purāṇam ||

持戒謂苾芻,有空乃行禪,行者究其源,無為最為樂。(63)

aratiratisaho hi bhikṣur evaṃ ... |

...rāgānuśayaṃ samuddharaṃ hi ||

苾芻忍所憂,分別床臥具,當習無放逸,斷有愛無餘。(64)
