不堅起堅想,堅起不堅想,後不至於堅,由起邪見故。(3)

將不真實當作真實,將真實當作不真實,他們增長錯誤的思惟,不能了解真實。(1.11)

堅而知堅者,不堅知不堅,被人求於堅,正治以為本。(4)

確知真實為真實,不真實為不真實,他們增長正確的思惟,而到達真實。(1.12)

upātidhāvanti hi sārabuddhyā navaṃ navaṃ bandhanaṃ ādadantaḥ |

patanti hi dyotam ivāndhakārād dṛṣṭe śrute caiva niviṣṭacittāḥ ||

愚者以為堅,反被九結縛,如鳥墮羅網,斯由愛深固。(5)

kāṅkṣā hi yā syād iha vā pṛthag veha vedikā vā paravedikā vā |

tāṃ dhyāyino viprajahanti sarvā hy ātāpino brahmacaryaṃ carantaḥ ||

諸有懷狐疑,今世及後世,禪定盡能滅,無惱脩梵行。(6)

aniṣkaṣāyaḥ kāṣāyaṃ yo vastraṃ paridhāsyati |

apetadamasauratyo nāsau kāṣāyam arhati ||

無塵離於塵,能持此服者,無御無所至,此不應法服。(7)

將披袈裟(而出家),卻未斷除貪染,不了解自我調御的道理,他不夠格披此袈裟。(1.9)

yas tu vāntakaṣāyaḥ syāt śīleṣu susamāhitaḥ |

upetadamasauratyaḥ sa vai kāṣāyam arhati ||

若能除垢穢,修戒等慧定,彼應思惟業,此應服袈裟。(8)

斷除貪染而具足戒律,了解自我調御的道理,他夠格披此袈裟。(1.10)

yasya doṣāḥ samucchinnās tālamastakavad dhatāḥ |

sa vāntadoṣo medhāvī sādhu rūpo nirucyate ||

有能斷是者,永拔其根本,智者除諸穢,乃名為善色。(10)

如果一個人從根斬斷、去除、摧毀這樣的思惟,這樣的已捨斷瞋恨的智者,稱為可敬的人。(19.8)263

na nāmarūpamātreṇa varṇapuṣkalayā na ca |

sādhu rūpo naro bhavati māyāvī matsarī śaṭhaḥ ||

不以柔和言,名稱有所至,人有善顏色,乃懷巧偽心。 (29.9)

如果一個人嫉妒、慳貪、虛偽,即使他善言或容貌端莊,也不成為可敬的人。(19.7)262

middhī ca yo bhavati mahāgrasaś ca rātriṃ divaṃ samparivartaśāyī |

mahāvarāha iva nivāpapuṣṭaḥ punaḥ punar mandam upaiti garbham ||

貪餮不自節,三轉隨時行,如圈被養猪,數數受胞胎。(29.13)

昏沉、貪食的人,睡覺時將輾轉翻身難以安眠,這樣的懶人像一隻餵得肥肥的大豬,將不斷一再投胎。(23.6)325

manujasya sadā smṛtīmato labdhvā bhojanamātrajānataḥ |

tanukā asya bhavanti vedanāḥ śanakair jīryati āyuḥ pālayam ||

人能專其意,於食知止足,趣欲支其形,養壽守其道。(14)

śubhānudarśinaṃ nityam indriyaiś cāpy asaṃvṛtam |

bhojane cāpy amātrajñaṃ hīnaṃ jāgarikāsu ca |

taṃ vai prasahate rāgo vāto vṛkṣam ivābalam ||

śubhānupaśyī viharann indriyair hi asaṃvṛtaḥ |

bhojane cāpy amātrajñaḥ kusīdo hīnavīryavān |

taṃ vai prasahate rāgo vāto vṛkṣam iva_abalam ||

觀淨而自淨,諸根不具足,於食無厭足,斯等凡品行,轉增於欲意,如屋壞穿漏。(15)

住於滿足快樂,不收攝諸根,飲食不知量,放逸不精進,魔羅征服他,如風吹倒弱樹。(1.7)

aśubhānudarśinaṃ nityam indriyaiś ca susaṃvṛtam |

bhojane cāpi mātrajñaṃ yuktaṃ jāgarikāsu ca |

taṃ na prasahate rāgo vātaḥ śailam iva sthiram ||

aśubhānupaśyī virahann indriyair hi susaṃvṛtaḥ |

bhojane cāpi mātrajñaḥ śrāddha ārabdhavīryavān |

taṃ na prasahate rāgo vātaḥ śailam iva parvatam ||

當觀不淨行,諸根無缺漏,於食知止足,有信執精進,不恣於欲意,如風吹泰山。(29.16)

不住於滿足快樂,收攝諸根,飲食知量,具足信心而精進,魔羅無法征服他,如同風無法吹倒石山。(1.8)

ramaṇīyāny araṇyāni na cātra ramate janaḥ |

vītarāgātra raṃsyante na tu kāmagaveṣiṇaḥ ||

空閑甚可樂,然人不樂彼,無欲常居之,非欲之所處。 (29.17)

林野(阿蘭若)甚可樂,眾人不覺得如此,離欲的人樂居此處,因他們不尋求貪欲。(7.10)99

grāme vā yadi vāaraṇye nimne vā yadi vā sthale |

yatrārhanto viharanti te deśā ramaṇīyakāḥ ||

(無論是)在村莊或森林,在河谷或山峰,阿羅漢所居之處,總是愉悅可意。(7.9)98

dūrāt santaḥ prakāśyante himavān iva parvataḥ |

asanto na prakāśyante rātri kṣiptāḥ śarā yathā ||

難移難可動,如彼重雪山,非賢則不現,猶夜射冥室。(29.18)

賢善的人即使處在遠方也如同雪山一樣閃耀,惡人像黑夜中射出的箭,即使在近處也看不見。(21.15)304

sadbhir eva sahāsīta paṇḍitair arthacintakaiḥ |

arthaṃ mahāntaṃ gambhīraṃ prajñayā pratividhyate ||

賢者有千數,智叡在叢林,義理極深邃,智者所分別。(19)

ahaṃ nāga iva saṃgrāme cāpād utpatitān śarān |

ativākyaṃ titikṣāmi duḥśīlo hi mahājanaḥ ||

如同在戰場上,象忍受從弓射出的箭,我能忍受誹謗,因為世上很多人是無戒的(惡行)(23.1)320

tasmād bhavaṃ nābhinande nandī ca vibhavena me ||

觀有知恐怖,變易知有無,是故不樂有,當念遠離有。(21)

aśrāddhaś cākṛtajñaś ca saṃdhicchettā ca yo naraḥ

hatāvakāśo vāntāśaḥ sa vai tu uttamapūruṣaḥ ||

無信無反復,穿牆而盜竊,斷彼希望思,是名為勇士。(29.22)

不盲信、知涅槃,斷除繫縛、斬斷一切未來有的因、斷除一切期望的人,他是至高無上的人。(7.8)97

mātaraṃ pitaraṃ hatvā rājānaṃ dvau ca śrotriyau |

rāṣṭraṃ sānucaraṃ hatvānigho yāti brāhmaṇaḥ || (also 33.61)

除其父母緣,王家及二種,徧滅其境界,無垢為梵行。 (29.23)

學先去其母,率君及二臣,盡勝諸境界,是名為梵志。 (33.60)

殺了母親、父親及兩個剎帝利王,國人及所有隨從,這才是寂靜不受動搖的婆羅門。(21.5)294

不積累食物、飲食知量的人,已證空、無相解脫,他所行的境界如鳥飛虛空無跡可尋。(7.3)92

鳥飛於虛空,而無足跡現,如彼行行人,言說無所趣。(25)

不積累食物、飲食知量的人,已證空、無相解脫,他所行的境界如鳥飛虛空無跡可尋。(7.3)92

alpakās te mauṣyeṣu ye janāḥ pāragāminaḥ |

atheyam itarāḥ prajās tīram evānudhāvati ||

希有諸眾生,多不順其性,有度不度者,為滅甚為難。(29.27)

只有少數的人能到達彼岸,其餘的大多數人都在此岸(生死輪迴)徘徊。(6.10)85

ye tarhi samyag ākhyāte dharme dharmānudarśinaḥ |

te janāḥ pāram eṣyanti mṛtyudheyasya sarvaśaḥ ||

諸有平等說,法法共相觀,盡斷諸結使,無復有熱惱。(29.28)

善受正教的人於法隨法而行,能超越難以渡脫的死魔領域。(6.11)86

gatādhvāno viśokasya vipramuktasya tāyinaḥ |

sarvagranthaprahīṇasya paridāgho na vidyate ||

行路無復憂,終日得解脫,一切結使盡,無復有眾惱。(29.29)

旅程已盡的人沒有憂患,不再有苦惱,他已斷除所有繫縛而解脫。(7.1)90

uttīrṇaḥ sabhayo mārgaḥ pātālaḥ parivarjitaḥ |

mukto yogais tathā granthaiḥ sarvaṃ rāgaviṣaṃ hatam ||

虛空無轍迹,沙門無外意,眾人盡樂惡,唯佛淨無穢。(34)

虛空沒有道路痕跡,(同樣地)外道沒有沙門,眾生喜樂戲論,諸佛沒有戲論。(18.20)254

yogaiḥ samuhyate bālo yogān nudati paṇḍitaḥ |

akṛtaṃ kukṛtāt śreyaḥ paścāt tapati duṣkṛtam |

śocate duṣkṛtaṃ kṛtvā śocate durgatiṃ gataḥ ||

無造無有造,造者受煩惱,非造非無造,前憂後亦憂。(32)

不作惡行為佳,作惡之後會懊悔受苦,作善行為佳,行善之後不致懊悔。(22.9)314

kṛtaṃ tu sukṛtaṃ śreyo yat kṛtvā nānutapyate |

nandate sukṛtaṃ kṛtvā nandate sugatiṃ gataḥ ||

 

不作惡行為佳,作惡之後會懊悔受苦,作善行為佳,行善之後不致懊悔。(22.9)314

nābhāṣamānā jñāyante miśrā bālair hi paṇḍitāḥ |

jñāyante bhāṣamānās tu deṣayanto ’rajaḥ padam ||

亦復不知論,賢聖無差別,若復知論議,所說無垢跡。(38)

subhāṣitadhvajā nityam ṛṣayor dharmagauravāḥ ||

說應法議論,當竪仙人幢,法幢為仙人,仙人為法幢。(39)

nindanti tuṣṇiṃ āsīnaṃ nindanti bahubhāṣiṇam |

alpabhāṇiṃ ca nindanti nāsti lokeṣv aninditaḥ ||

眾相共毀謗,各發恚怒聲,歡心平等忍,此忍最無比。 (14.5)

或有寂然罵,或有在眾罵,或有未聲罵,世無有不罵。 (29.40)

 

阿圖拉,此是自古以來即常發生,不是今日才有。沉默導致毀謗,多言導致毀謗,言語不冗長也導致毀謗,世上無不招致毀謗。(17.7)227

ekāntaninditaḥ puruṣaḥ ekāntaṃ vā praśaṃsitaḥ |

nābhūd bhaviṣyati ca no na cāpy etarhi vidyate ||

一毀及一譽,但利養其名,非有亦非有,則亦不可知。 (29.41)

只有被人譴責而無讚譽的人,或只有被人讚譽而不被譴責的人,在過去、現在、或未來都沒有這種人。(17.8)228

yaṃ tu vijñāḥ praśaṃsanti hy anuyujya śubhāśubham |

praśaṃsā sā samākhyātā na tv ajñair yaḥ praśaṃsitaḥ ||

智人所稱譽,若好兼及醜,智人無缺漏,慧定得解脫。(29.42)

在日復一日的觀察下,沒有惡行的人,(17.9)229

諸天與梵天都讚嘆他。(17.10)230

medhāvinaṃ vṛttayuktaṃ prājñaṃ śīleṣu saṃvṛtam |

niṣkaṃ jāmbunadasyaiva kas taṃ ninditum arhati ||

智人所稱譽,若好兼及醜,智人無缺漏,慧定得解脫。(29.42)

具見與慧的人,為智者所讚譽。(229)

誰夠資格去譴責這樣一位像紫磨金飾(閻浮檀金飾)一樣純淨的人?(17.10)230

śailo yathāpy ekaghano vāyunā na prakampyate |

evaṃ nindāpraśaṃsābhir na kampyante hi paṇḍitāḥ ||

猶如安明山,不為風所動,智人亦如是,不為毀譽動。(29.43)

就像一塊巨石不被風移動,智者也不被毀譽所動。(6.6)81

yasya mūle tvacā nāsti parṇā nāsti tathā latāḥ |

taṃ dhīraṃ bandhanān muktaṃ kas taṃ ninditum arhati ||

如樹無有根,無枝況有葉,健者以解縛,誰能毀其德?(44)

yasya ha prapañcitaṃ hi no sat saṃtānaṃ parikhaṃ ca yo nivṛttaḥ |

tṛṣṇā vigataṃ muniṃ carantaṃ na vijānāti sadevako ’pi lokaḥ ||

yasya jitaṃ na_upajīyate jitam anveti na kaṃcid eva loke |

taṃ buddham anantagocaraṃ hy apadaṃ kena padena neṣyasi ||

 

他的勝利無法被轉為失敗,世間無人能追上他的勝利,這樣智慧無邊、無跡可尋的佛陀,怎可能用任何方法而能破壞?(14.1)179

yasya jālinī viṣaktikā tṛṣṇā nāsti hi lokanāyinī |

taṃ buddham anantagocaraṃ hy apadaṃ kena padena neṣyasi ||

猶如網叢林,無愛況有餘,佛有無量行,無跡誰跡將?(46)

能誘人入網的繫縛與貪愛已不存在而不能帶到任何處,這位具無量行的佛陀無跡可尋,誰能導引他?(14.2)180

yasya mūlaṃ kṣitau nāsti parṇā nāsti tathā latāḥ |

taṃ dhīraṃ bandhanān muktaṃ ko nu ninditum arhati ||

yasya jālinī viṣaktikā tṛṣṇā nāsti hi lokanāyinī |

taṃ buddham anantavikramaṃ hy apadaṃ kena padena neṣyasi ||

若有不欲生,以生不受有,佛有無量行,無跡誰跡將?(47)

yasya vitarkā vidhūpitās tv ādhyātmaṃ vinivartitā hy aśeṣam |

sa hi saṅgam atītya sarvasaṃjñāṃ yogāpetam atīrṇasaṅgam eti ||

若欲滅其想,內外無諸因,亦無過色想,四應不受生。(48)

muñca purato muñca paścato madhye muñca bhavasya pāragaḥ |

sarvatra vimuktamānaso na punar jātijarām upeṣyasi ||

捨前及捨後,捨間越於有,一切盡皆捨,不復受生老。(29.49)

捨離過去,捨離未來,捨離現在,當你渡到彼岸,心解脫一切,你將不再有老死。(24.15)348
