abhūtavādī narakān upaiti yaś cānyad apy ācaratīha karma |

ubhau hi tau pretyasamau niruktau nihīnadharmau manujau paratra ||

妄語入地獄,作之言不作,二罪後俱受,是行自牽去。(8.1)

說妄語的人下地獄,有人已作而聲稱未作,造這兩種惡業的人,死後同下地獄。(22.1)306

puruṣasya hi jātasya kuṭhārī jāyate mukhe |

yayā chinatti hātmānaṃ vācā durbhāṣitaṃ vadan ||

恒懷暴惡人,斧在口中出,所以自傷身,由其出惡言。(2)

說法自悅人,口出無量義,使我懷妊身,不慚此儀式。(3)

yo nindiyāṃ praśaṃsati tān api nindati ye praśaṃsiyāḥ |

sa cinoti mukhena taṃ kaliṃ kalinā tena sukhaṃ na vindati ||

譽惡惡還譽,是二俱為惡,好以口快鬪,彼後皆無安。(4)

alpamātro hy ayaṃ kalir ya ihākṣeṇa dhanaṃ parājayet |

ayam atra mahattaraḥ kalir yaḥ sugateṣu manaḥ pradūṣayet ||

爭為微少利,如掩失財寶,從彼致鬪諍,合意向惡道。(5)

śataṃ sahasrāṇi nirarbudāni ṣaṭ triṃśatiṃ pañca tathārbudāni |

yān āryagarhī narakān upaiti vācaṃ manaś ca praṇidhāya pāpakam ||

百千尼羅浮,三十六五獄,誹謗賢聖者,口意發惡願。(6)

asataṃ hi vadanti pāpacittā narakaṃ vardhayate vadhāya nityam |

anavadyabalas titikṣate tāṃ manaso hy āvilatāṃ vivarjayitvā ||

無道墮惡道,自增地獄苦,遠愚修忍意,念諦則無犯。(7)

若倚內寶藏,依賢聖活命,愚者墮惡道,猶願邪見作。(8)

以失今良會,更立誓願求,終不見聖諦,況欲見究竟?(9)

yaḥ śāsanaṃ hy arhatāṃ āryāṇāṃ dharmajīvinām |

pratikrośati durmedhā dṛṣṭiṃ niḥśritya pāpikām

phalaṃ kaṇṭakaveṇur vā phalaty ātmavadhāya saḥ ||

執持邪見的愚者毀謗阿羅漢、聖者、正命者,愚人恰如竹子開花,作惡以自我毀滅。(12.8)164

kalyāṇikāṃ vimuñceta naiva muñceta pāpikām |

muktā kalyāṇikī śreyo muktā tapati pāpikā ||

竹蘆生實乾,還害其自軀,若吐言當善,不演惡法教。(10)

na ca mukte pramuñcet tāṃ muñcamāno hi bādhyate |

naivaṃ āryāḥ pramuñcanti muktā bālair hi pāpikā ||

從善得解脫,為惡不得解,善解者為賢,是為脫惡趣,聖賢解不然,如彼愚得解。(11)

mukhena samyato bhikṣur mandabhāṣī hy anuddhataḥ |

arthaṃ dharmaṃ ca deśayati madhuraṃ tasya bhāṣitam ||

苾芻挹損意,不躁言得忠。義說如法說,所語言柔軟。(8.12)

善於調御自己語言、說話善巧的比丘,不傲慢自負、能法說、義說,他的語言是甜蜜的。(25.4)363

subhāṣitaṃ hy uttamaṃ āhur āryā dharmaṃ vaden nādharmaṃ tad dvitīyam |

priyaṃ vaden nāpriyaṃ tat tṛtīyaṃ satyaṃ vaden nāsatyaṃ tac caturtham ||

善說賢聖教,法說如法二,念說如念三,諦說如諦四。(13)

tām eva vācaṃ bhāṣeta yayātmānaṃ na tāpayet |

parāṃś ca na vihiṃseta sā hi vāk sādhu bhāṣitā ||

是以言語者,必使心無患,亦不尅有情,是為能善言。(14)

priyodyam eva bhāṣeta yā hi vācābhinanditā |

nādadāti yayā pāpaṃ bhāṣamāṇaḥ sadā priyam ||

言使投意可,亦令得歡喜,不使至惡意,出言眾悉可。(15)

satyā syād amṛtā vācā satyavācā hy anuttarā |

satyam arthe ca dharme ca vācaṃ āhuḥ pratiṣṭhitām ||

至誠甘露說,說法無有上,諦說義如法,是為立道本。(16)

yāṃ buddho bhāṣate vācaṃ kṣemāṃ nirvāṇaprāptaye |

duḥkhasyāntakriyāyuktāṃ sā hi vāk sādhu bhāṣitā ||

如說佛言者,是吉得滅度,為能斷苦際,是謂言中上。(17)
