priyebhyo vipramuktānāṃ nāsti śokaḥ kuto bhayam ||

愛處生憂愁,愛處生怖畏,若無所愛樂,何愁何怖畏?(5.1)

從愛喜生憂愁,從愛喜生恐怖,離愛喜則無憂愁,何處有恐怖?(16.4)212

priyebhyo jāyate śokaḥ priyebhyo jāyate bhayam /

priyāṇām anyathībhāvād unmādam api gacchati //

由愛生憂愁,由愛生怖畏,若遠離念愛,遂捨狂亂終。(2)

śokā hi ye vai paridevitaṃ ca duḥkhaṃ ca lokasya hi naikarūpam /

priyaṃ pratītyeha tad asti sarvaṃ priye 'sati syān na kathaṃcid etat //

夫人懷憂愁,世苦無數量,斯由念恩愛,無念則無愁。(3)

mā priyaiḥ saṃgamo jātu mā ca syād apriyaiḥ sadā |

priyāṇām adarśanaṃ duḥkham apriyāṇāṃ ca darśanam ||

莫與愛念會,亦莫不念俱,念愛不見苦,不愛念憂慼。(5.6)

不要結交自己喜愛的人,也不要結交自己不喜愛的人,見不到自己喜愛的人會痛苦,而見到自己不喜愛的人也痛苦。(16.2)210

priyāṇāṃ ca vinābhāvād apriyāṇāṃ ca saṃgamāt /

tīvra utpadyate śoko jīryante yena mānavāḥ //

(念愛而別離,與不愛念俱,)於中生愁慼,消滅人善根。(5.7)

priyaṃ mṛtaṃ kālagataṃ jñātayaḥ sahitāḥ sthitāḥ /

śocanti dīrgham adhvānaṃ duḥkho hi priyasaṃgamaḥ //(priya-vigamaḥ?)

愛念就後世,朋友多親眷,長夜憂愁恨,念離為甚苦。 (5.8)

tasmāt priyaṃ na kurvīta priyabhāvo hi pāpakaḥ |

granthās teṣāṃ na vidyante yeṣāṃ nāsti priyāpriyam ||

是故不生念,念者是惡累,彼則無諸縛,無念無不念。(5.4)

因此,不執著於自己喜愛的人,與自己喜愛的人分離會痛苦,沒有自己喜愛與不喜愛的執著,就免於繫縛。(16.3)211

ayoge yujya cātmānaṃ yoge cāyujya sarvadā |

arthaṃ hitvā priyagrāhī spṛhayaty arthayogine ||

作了不當作的事,未作應當作的事,已捨棄了自己的義利,追求貪欲者卻欽羨追求義利者。(16.1)209

priyarūpasātagrathitā devakāyāḥ pṛthak sthitāḥ /

āghādinaḥ paridyūnā mṛtyurājavaśaṃ gatāḥ //

念色金色容,天身而別住,樂極而害至,為死王所錄。(5.9)

ye vai divā ca rātrau caiva apramattāḥ priyaṃ jahati nityam /

te vai khananti tv aghamūlaṃ mṛtyur āmiṣaṃ durativartyam //

若人處晝夜,消滅念愛色,自掘深根源,不越死徑路。(5.10)

asādhu sādhurūpeṇa priyarūpeṇa cāpriyam /

duḥkhaṃ sukhasya rūpeṇa pramattān abhimardati //

不善形善色,愛色言非愛,若謂樂著色,放逸之所使。(5.11)

ātmānaṃ cet priyaṃ vidyān na enaṃ pāpena yojayet /

na hy etat sulabhaṃ bhavati sukhaṃ duṣkṛtakāriṇā //

夫自念欲者,不與惡共居,此則難獲得,樂為惡根本。(5.12)

ātmānaṃ cet priyaṃ vidyād rakṣed enaṃ surakṣitam |

yathā pratyantanagaraṃ gambhīraparikhaṃ dṛḍham |

trayāṇām anyatamaṃ yāmaṃ pratijāgreta paṇḍitaḥ ||

夫欲自念者,宜自善守護,如防護邊城,乃牢固墻塹。(5.13)

如果(他)知道愛惜自己,就應該保護應妥善保護的他,智者應(至少)在夜中三時的任一時(均)保持警覺。(12.1)157

ātmānaṃ cet priyaṃ vidyād gopayet taṃ sugopitam |

yathā pratyantanagaraṃ guptam antarbahiḥ sthiram ||

夫欲自念者,藏己仍堅密,猶如防邊城,內外悉牢固。(5.14)

如同內外守護的邊城,你應如此善自守護自己,勿剎那放逸,剎那放逸的人,入地獄受苦。(22.10)315

evaṃ gopayatātmānaṃ kṣaṇo vo mā hy upatyagāt |

kṣaṇātītā hi śocante narakeṣu samarpitāḥ ||

當自善防護,後剎那虛悔,時過則生憂,須臾墮地獄。(5.15)

如同內外守護的邊城,你應如此善自守護自己,勿剎那放逸,剎那放逸的人,入地獄受苦。(22.10)315

sarvā diśas tv anuparigamya cetasā naivādhyagāt priyataram ātmanaḥ kvacit /

evaṃ priyaḥ pṛthag ātmā pareṣāṃ tasmān na hiṃsyāt param ātmakāraṇam //

徧於諸方求,令心中間察,頗有斯等類,不愛乃愛彼,以己喻彼命,是故不害人。(5.16)

sarve daṇḍasya bibhyanti sarveṣāṃ jīvitaṃ priyam |

ātmānam upamāṃ kṛtvā na eva hanyān na ghātayet ||

一切皆懼死,莫不畏刀杖,恕己可為喻,勿殺勿行杖。 (5.17)

每個人都在刀杖前顫抖,每個人都害怕死亡,推己及人,己不殺生,也不教他人殺。(10.1)129

每個人都在刀杖前顫抖,每個人都愛惜自己的生命,推己及人,己不殺生,也不教他人殺。(10.2)130

cirapravāsinaṃ yadvad dūrataḥ svastināgatam |

jñātayaḥ suhṛdo mitrāś cābhinandanti āgatam ||

譬如久行人,從遠吉却還,親厚亦安和,歸來懷慶悅。(5. 18)

譬如有人遠離家鄉,而平安返家,親朋好友為他遠道還家而慶樂。(16.11)219

kṛtapuṇyaṃ tathā martyam asmāṃl lokāt paraṃ gatam |

puṇyāny evābhinandanti priyaṃ jñātim ivāgatam ||

好福行善者,從此達於彼,自受多福祚,如親厚來喜。(5.19)

行善者也如是,從此岸到彼岸,如同親戚歡迎他們的至親好友從遠道歸來。(16.12)220

dharmasthaṃ śīlasampannaṃ hrīmantaṃ satyavādinam |

ātmanaḥ kārakaṃ santaṃ taṃ janaḥ kurute priyam ||

樂法戒成就,成信樂而習,能誡自身者,為人所愛敬。(5.22)

眾人敬愛具戒與正見、住於正法、知真諦、為所應為的人。(16.9)217

pareṣāṃ ca priyo bhavati hy ātmārthaṃ kriyate 'pi ca |

dṛṣṭe ca dharme prāśaṃsyaḥ sāmparāye ca sadgatiḥ ||

人所敬故,皆由己所造,現世得名譽,後生於天上。(5.23)

avavadetānuśāsīta cāsabhyāc ca nivārayet |

asatāṃ na priyo bhavati satāṃ bhavati tu priyaḥ ||

教習使稟受,制止非法行,善者之所念,惡者當遠離。(5.24)

他應譴責、勸阻、禁制自己為惡,如此他被善人親近,被惡人所不喜。(6.2)77

asantaś caiva santaś ca nānā yānti tv itaś cyutāḥ |

asanto narakaṃ yānti santaḥ svargaparāyaṇāḥ ||

善與不善者,此二詎不別?善者生天上,不善墮地獄。(5.25)
